Traffic is crucial for any online business

As you know traffic is one of the most important things for a commercial website. More traffic means more sales. No traffic means no business. The more traffic you can get the better it is.

There are many ways to increase traffic to your website. You can buy traffic of course, you could place adds, you could setup an affiliate program, or you can get traffic in exchange for looking at other website. Exchaning traffic is a cheap or free way to get traffic.

What is Traffic Exchange?

It's a system where you surf websits in exchange for others surfing your website. Usually the ratio is 1:2 or less which means you have to surf two websites or others to have one visitor surf your website.

It doesn't take a genious to figure out that this equation doesn't make sense; more websites are surfed than visites are earned. That is because the remainder of clicks is sold to paid advertisers. They buy visitors and that is how Traffic Exchanges make money.

Traffic Exchanges don't work very well but are still worth joining

I'll give you the blatant truth right away; Traffic Exchanges don't work very well unless you have a really eye catchy website which is very easy to oversee. The thing is that people surfing Traffic Exchanges are doing so for the simple reason that they want traffic for their own websites. Their main objective is just that; earn traffic. They are not really looking for your website, they usually don't care.

All the same, participating in a traffic exchange is not a bad idea because of two reasons;

 1) The more exposure you get the more people will start to recognize your website and more they 'accept' it. Some might actually look at your website sooner or later.

 2) The people that actively particpate in a traffic exchange are workers; they are spending time to earn traffic. They are motivated. It is these people that you want to sign up on your website. They have the potential to do great in whatever affiliate program you're in!

In other words, you don't get a lot of leads but the leads that you do get are usually of a good quality.
